Titmouse

Last year was the very first in my textile work when I used linen fabrics. Until then I have worked only with cotton. There is a small but excellent shop with linen and silk called Sartor near my workplace in the very center of old Prague, near Charles bridge, where I bought this  middlewight linen, unusual fine and smooth to the touch. 

The linen became home of the small titmouse from the series "Bird gallery". The central block was made years ago during a workshop on Prague Patchwork Meeting. I found the colours very well fitting to the small bird. 

 

Woolen Felt Arrived

The woolen felt from Truecolours arrived! 
Lovely natural felt, made from natural sheep fleece, without the use of chemicals or dyes, produced in Europe. It´s just beautiful! The undyed colors are created by mixing natural sheep wool colours, it cannot be more natural (therefore the name BioFelt).

 I also ordered all colours of PatchFelt and the colour atlas of TrueFelt. It hasn´t been the last order from Truecolors, I´m sure about it:)

The  thickness of the felt is about 1mm. It should play an important
part in my next project. I like especially the blues and greens. 

The Yellow Bird of Bengal

During the Prague Patchwork meeting 2019 I could buy a piece of an absolutely fantastic fabric with pictures of birds. Later I discovered that these birds are reprints of original engravings from The Natural History of Birds by  Eleazar Albin from 1731.

This is the first quilt of my Bird Gallery, made for PPM 2020 - The "Yellow Bird of Bengal" is today called "black naped oriole".

 

Keep Kalm And Sew A Mask

I wanted to start the very first blog with something else, with my bird gallery for example. But like almost everyone in Czech Republic and in other countries, I sew, sew, sew masks for my family, for friends, for colleagues. Praying for their health and hoping that the plague will be over soon.
