about me

It’s been many years when I spend every free moment among pieces of cloth, threads and buttons. I combine, cut, fold, put together, stitch and sew, run away to stir goulash and switch off our whistling washing machine, quilt, embroider, create appliqués, and with all that I mostly relax. I am unshakeably supported not only by our naughty black tomcat but mainly by my fantastic husband who very patiently and skilfully solves my technical problems or sudden requirements to install different types of grommets, lugs, rivets and other things I need immediately if possible.

I have undergone some kind of a rocket development from classical patchwork to freer technics of sewing and decorating. I’m tempted by textile manipulations, combining hand quilting with machine quilting, embellishing and all kind of finishing of textile surfaces. Despite all my attempts to plan a systematic progress my materials come to life under my hands and start seeking their places, they develop and the result which was originally planned is mostly far from reality.

I’m not naturally meticulous and careful person, I don’t enjoy working on small, technically perfect made items. Unfortunately, I also miss persistence and patience to be able to complete my work on a large piece of quilt. Nevertheless, every cloud has its silver lining and I’m glad that my favourite projects have finally become bags. They’re practical and fully suit my almost utilitarian naturel.

  1. Michaela, thank you for your article about fabric printing technique. It is an interesting topic. I like your photos with fabrics! And about bags... From my point of view - the best bag for you is that one with a bee. Have a nice day!
